Effective August 1, 2014, General Relief (GR) applicants/participants who declare they are not able to work will be required to provide medical verification from their medical provider.

Medical providers determine physical health limitations of participants through a physical examination, which limits the type of employment he/she can successfully complete.

Background

This Administrative Release does not establish a new category of employability. As a result, participants with a work restriction/limitation are considered employable. This document does provide clarification to staff regarding the importance of taking into consideration all known barriers (including physical restriction/limitations, which may prevent a participant’s successful enrollment and outcome while participating in the GROW Program).
